Hoot Owl is in effect on the Bitterroot River, fishing is shut down from 2 p.m. to Midnight, so getting out early in the morning is your best bet. We are still seeing some surface sippers out there. The bug of choice for those dry eats are PMD'S or an Elk Hair Caddis. Throwing a dry dropper is a good option as well with a Spanish bullet or a jig Perdigon, keep in mind the river is low so adjust your tippet length accordingly.
The lower river is sitting at 325 CFS, upper river is 375 CFS, and the West Fork is 125 CFS.
