The Bitterroot is fishing well. We have seen a hefty drop in flows and the water has cleared up. Dry fly fishing has been the go-to recently with a healthy number of golden stones, green and brown drakes, as well as PMD'S hatching in the area. For those eager to get out in the early mornings we suggest a dry dropper with your favorite golden stone pattern paired with a nymph such as a: Perdigon, Frenchie, or a Flashback pheasant tail. With the week warming up your best bet will be mornings and evenings since we won't have much cloud cover for those hotter afternoons.
The flows are currently 2290 CSF for lower river, 1370 CSF for upper river, and 277 CSF at the West Fork. The lower river has quite a few obstructions in it, Vets-Woodside and Woodside-Tucker both have some new logs down to look out for, keep to the left on both routes. With the water continuing to drop there will be more shifts in the river and logs exposed, stay diligent in checking routes prior to floating.
