May 2nd Fishing Report

Spring fishing is still in full swing, and the bite is on here in the Bitterroot. Streamer fishing and nymphing have been producing very well out there. The weather is starting to get a bit warmer, and we are slowly creeping out of those colder nights. With the shift in weather, we can expect an increase in those afternoon hatches. Gear up with your favorite dries such as para adams, purple haze, or a BWO pattern. During the colder and cloudy mornings, the bigger articulated streamers have been fishing well, keep tight to the banks and structures. For nymphs we suggest going with a bigger fly, anywhere from #8-12, try a san juan worm, jig pheasant tail or prince, or a TJ hooker.

Currently lower river is sitting at 1490 CFS, upper river is 956 CFS, and the West Fork is 254 CFS. With the temps getting a bit warmer next week we could see a hike in these numbers. Always stay diligent out on the river when you're floating. This river is notorious for rapidly changing and fallen logs.
